Welcome to 'Join the Cast Debate.' In this section, you can become an active participant in three debates that figure prominently in the film "The Quest for Peace."

JOIN DEBATE # 1

Debate #1 deals with the 'hot topic' of interfaith tolerance in modern Muslim societies. Team Mediterranean traveled to Morocco to try to get an impression of the relationship between the Muslim majority and Jewish and Christian minorities. Morocco prides itself on its tolerance as a matter of government policy, but attitudes towards other faiths have been influenced by the recent activity of fundamentalist extremists with possible ties to Al Qaeda.

After three days of traveling through Morocco and talking to many different people, Team Mediterranean debated its findings on the group bus.

JOIN DEBATE # 2

Debate #2 also involves Team Mediterranean. The group traveled through Andalusia in southern Spain, which was part of the Islamic empire from the 8th through the 12th centuries CE. During this time, Muslims, Jews and Christians lived and worked in relative harmony with one another. The team debates its findings in the beautiful lobby of the Alhambra Hotel in Granada.

JOIN DEBATE # 3

Debate #3 is presented by Team USA and focuses on the difficult question of whether Judaism, Christianity and Islam all believe in one and the same God. And if they do, does this mean that Moses, Jesus and Muhammad can to some degree be considered 'prophets' on a par with one another?

This challenging yet fascinating topic is presented to three figures: Father Bill Messenger of the USC Catholic Center; Rabbi Reuven Firestone, professor of Medieval Judaism and Islam at the Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion; and Dr. Mohamed Fathi Osman of the Omar Ibn Al Khattab Foundation.
